Program Overview

The Network Systems Engineering Technology Program provides students with the skills to enter the high-wage, in-demand field of information technology (IT). With two areas of specialization and two industry-level certificate options in security and infrastructure, this program is designed for students and working professionals seeking technical skills for immediate employment or career advancement. The infrastructure specialization prepares students for careers designing, building and maintaining network infrastructures. The security specialization prepares students for careers in cybersecurity support.

Admission Requirements

Any prospective student with a qualifying high school diploma (or the equivalent) is eligible to apply.

Network Fundamentals

This course covers the architecture, structure, functions and components of the internet and other computer networks. Students develop basic fluency with network operations, build simple local area networks (LAN), perform basic configurations for routers and switches and implement Internet Protocol (IP).

Programming in Python

This course introduces computational thinking and the art of computer programming using Python. Students use fundamental programming concepts and systematic design techniques to write programs that computationally solve and reduce problems.

Firewall Services and Cybersecurity Essentials

This comprehensive overview of the fundamental tenants of cybersecurity covers the general security concepts involved in maintaining a secure network-computing environment, and covers the scope of today’s cybersecurity challenges, strategies for network defense and detailed information about next-generation cybersecurity solutions.
